Let me take us down memory lane, some years ago, everyone waited till 7am, 4pm, 7pm and 10pm to listen to Radio Nigeria Network News while NTA Network News is slated for 9pm. Those were the ultimate news bulletin of the day, missing it is akin to missing the government’s decisions and other current affairs of the day. While the newspapers will recount the tales at daybreak for the Executives.
However, times have changed, today, breaking news is instant; stakeholders have series of avenues through which they receive news items; the people who share the news are not journalists in the newsroom. In fact, journalists now pick news items from all of these channels through which news is shared.
Today’s organizations are contending with lots of media platforms and outlets. With technological devices, everyone is a broadcaster and a reporter. In fact, there is no need for a well-furnished studio or expensive gadgets to make news happen now.
It is important to know that Stakeholders have become more empowered than before. It’s not just the media that publishes about the company- it is everybody- activists, employees, consumers, bloggers, and many more.
All you need to do is to enhance your level of engagement across all stakeholders and also to monitor all channels. Your stakeholders’ universe has increased a ton and you need to strategically approach all of them.
Remember, your messaging to all these stakeholders would slightly differ but you need to keep communicating with them.
It’s another week of exploits; let’s go optimize the opportunities inherent in it.
